Editing and Story Coaching

Arielle Haughee is a real game changer. As a new novelist, I needed some help with an early draft of my manuscript, to find some of the weak areas and shore them up. After one consultation, Arielle zeroed in on the problems and helped me find a few new ways to solve them. She even helped me with a few follow-up questions, making sure I was on the right track.

-Erik Deckers, Owner of ProBlog Service and author of Branding Yourself

Finished up your draft and now looking for professional feedback on your story? As the author of The Complete Revision Workbook for Writers and an experienced editor, I can provide a variety of feedback. What type of editing do you need? You may want one or more of the below:

  • Developmental Editing: I read the entirety of your manuscript and type a separate multi-page document providing feedback on character, plot, pacing, setting, theme, POV, dialogue, language, and other narrative elements for the entire book. You'll get notes on the positive aspects of the work and solution ideas for areas of improvement. There will also be the opportunity for follow-up questions and discussion. Great for beginners!
  • Content Editing: The document described above in developmental editing plus notes within the manuscript for full, detailed feedback on content.
  • Line Editing: I read your manuscript and edit to enhance the language, cutting unnecessary words and tightening prose. This is often combined with copy editing to finalize a manuscript.
  • Copy Editing: I pull out my Chicago Manual of Style and make sure every word of your manuscript follows modern conventions for the English language.

Price structure:

  • Prices are based on word count and estimated amount of time for the project. Please email me at info@orangeblossombooks.com
  • One time picture book feedback: email for quote
  • Test run option for first three chapters (email for quote, pending word count)

I have worked with Arielle on several projects, including short stories and a full-length novel. She is a joy to collaborate with. Her feedback is invaluable. It's clear she is pushing no agenda other than trying to make your work better. Her feedback is well organized and easy to follow. I can honestly say I am a better writer for having worked with her and I look forward to using her services again in the future.

-Kristin Durfee, author of the Four Corners Trilogy, published by Black Opal Books

Arielle brings a great grasp of reader immersion. She asks questions about the content and helps you identify loose ends or clarity issues. In her overview of my novel, she was able to flag content I hadn't realized was problematic and could turn away readers. I dive back to her feedback and evaluation often as I continue to polish and prep this novel for agents.

-Valerie Willis, author of the award winning series Cedric, The Demonic Knight

Arielle Haughee coached me on my debut collection of interrelated short stories. She provided advice that was broad enough to point me in the right direction, yet specific enough to keep me on track. As I applied her principles, my stories blossomed into cohesive narratives. When she edited my manuscript, she accelerated the pace while anchoring my characters. She helped me transform my words into stories. And she did all this without impacting my imagination or style. Thank you, Arielle.
