Ashley N.Y. Sheesley

Sophie's Guide to Werewolves and Pancakes, Middle Grade Fiction

Picture
Ashley N.Y. Sheesley is a disabled author, scientist, animal lover, and a big fan of all things fantasy. In fact, she is only a scientist because she can’t figure out how to be a wizard in real life.

When she’s not studying diseases or writing about dragons or werewolves, she loves to draw, paint, crochet, knit, spin wool, or venture out in the dead of night to Dark Sky zones and take photos of the stars. She lives with her husband and her small army of animals—a bearded dragon, a bunny, and three cats.

Her writing can be found in Artifice & Access, Why Aren’t You Dead Yet?, with her award-winning debut YA contemporary fantasy, Child of the Dragon from Inked in Gray Press, the first book in the Pact of the Ancients series, and her upcoming cozy spooky middle grade paranormal fantasy, Sophie's Guide to Werewolves and Pancakes from Orange Blossom Publishing.

She is represented by Kaitlyn Katsoupis at Belcastro Agency.

Sophie's Guide to Werewolves and Pancakes

August 17, 2027

Twelve-year-old Sophie knows mythological creatures are real—she just has to prove it. And when she finds what she believes to be werewolf tracks on the way to school, she knows this could finally be her chance. She just needs to grab her best friend Lizzie, follow the tracks, and BOOM. Werewolf proof.

Lizzie, a 6th grader with postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), adores Sophie and usually loves to go on ghost hunts with her, but this time is different. Because, those tracks Sophie found? They’ll lead right to Lizzie's house. She'll help Sophie, of course she will. But she can't let her friend find out that not only are werewolves very, very real... she is one.

But when the investigation reveals there's actually a new wolf in town, it means someone is creating new werewolves, a much more dangerous situation that could put Sophie, Lizzie, and their friendship in danger. If Lizzie can't stop the rogue werewolf in time, her family could be exposed to the entire world—a world that would only see them as monsters.
